School Laboratory
What we propose and why
Our idea is to study the functional possibilities of structural
articulation
in the "School Laboratory" that, beyond the educational and teaching
funtions, can offer a particularly qualified and efficient context for
the
instruction of the teachers. Such a study would be agreed and developed
along the way with the assistance of the universities and other bodies. This research and experimentation will provide the means to a new level
of
interaction between schools, universities and professional associations.
The methods described will be incorporated into the teacher training
module
and lead to the creation of a professional community with greater
competitiveness and improved quality of service. The project will be
strongly connected to the current debate surrounding the application of
Article 5 of Law 53 on the training of teachers...and will evolve mainly
within the fields of pedogogy, research and evaluation.
Proponents The other schools, aside from Scuola-Cittą Pestalozzi in Florence, that
will
be taking part in the project of experimentation are the First Grade
Secondary School "Rinascita Amleto Livi" of Milan, and the First Grade
Secondary School "Don Milani - Colombo" of Genoa. Each school will bring
its own identity and personality to the experiment.
Areas of research of the Scuola-Cittą Pestalozzi of Florence
- How to cater for and sustain the various learning courses of the
students - Creating an articulated didactic itinerary of activities and events
that
serve to educate the students in the importance of assuming
responsibility
and achieving personal independence. - Sharing of the educational choices and active collaboration between
school
and family, engendering awareness of duties in both areas. - Sharing good teaching practices between schools in the Florence area.
Coordination between the schools
The coordination of the project will be overseen by the Organisational
Committee containing members of the three Scientific departments. From
the
second year on, a platform of communication and collaboration will be
established.
Evaluation
Monitoring and internal self-evaluation.
The external evaluation process is to be agreed with the Department of
Education which will provide for the involvement of INVALSI and IRRE. Scientific Coordination for each school in charge of the project and its
events.
Monitoring of the teaching and tutoring results. Monitoring of the research, student teaching, administrative and
organisational management.
The schools will periodically publish items of interest such as the
results
and the organisation of the work upon request, public events such as
seminars and conventions, and updating of websites in which to share
online
materials and contributions.
